Social Media: Video, YouTube and Social Media Marketing

You should be here and there’s 2,000,000,000 reasons per day!

Have you heard how popular YouTube is?

How well does your company do Social Media?

Most businesses, certainly in construction and property development, can benefit from having a presence on YouTube.

Any construction company or any trade involved in construction can and should highlight case studies with ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots.  This isn’t rocket science and we’re not looking to make a major Hollywood movie.  Some companies have great ‘Case studies‘ on their Blogs and websites, but wouldn’t it be better to have video coverage or both??

Social Media can often be monitored and adjusted more easily than traditional advertising.

Web 2.0 has changed the way we communicate and the way we do business.

Traditional advertising is less effective and more expensive.

Magazine and newspaper advertising is expensive and it’s on the decline, people read the news online, via computers and more often than not, on mobile telephones.  Social Media needs time, imagination and it needs to find its audience, but the costs other than that are minimal and what a MASSIVE audience!

Social Media Revolution 2 (refresh) has been seen 1.206,014 times!

Over 2,000,000,000 YouTube downloads every DAY!

Not bad for a company that started life in garage way back in 2005!

From 0 to 2,000,000,000 daily in 6 years is some achievement by any standards!

Looks to me like this Social Media idea is catching on!!

It’s not just me that thinks this!

Julie Weishaar from Small Business Internet Marketing said: “Online video is the future, the latest trend, and continues to rise in popularity.  Key indicators point to corporations embracing online video as an essential marketing tool.  In a 2008 Interactive Marketing study, Forrester Research predicted a compound annual growth rate of 72% through the year 2012 – the most robust of all interactive investments.  Online video is expected to grow significantly more than search engine marketing, display ads, and email marketing”.

Is your business right for video?? Or is video right for your business??

How connected are you to your customers??

If 600,000,000 million people use Facebook and YouTube gets over 2,000,000,000 downloads a day, chances are that at least some of those people are potential customers for your business?  Think about it!

My mantra is “communication adds value!”  Now you can see why!

Look online (not in the local newspaper) and see what your competition is doing with Social Media, are you getting left behind or are you leading the way?

Communication 2011 is all about being connected not spending money on advertising!

So don’t waste money when times are hard, get connected!

YouTube, like all Social Media, is about sharing and communicating.  When you download a video you can instantly share it on Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, Google Buzz, LinkedIn, Orkut, Bebo, Digg, Tumblr and more!  How’s that for communication?  How’s that for permission marketing and encouraging potential customers to engage and get to know your company and its products and services?

The time has gone for intrusive advertising; now is the time to tell people what you can do and how well you can do it!   Show them and they’ll be impressed, but only if you do it well.  Add value by helping them and providing valuable information. Let them get to know your company and understand the way you do business.  You won’t win them all, but years ago, you didn’t win over everyone that read your advert in Yellow Pages, did you?

About Peter

British born Peter L Masters has been a writer for many years and Cut Limbo is his first published novel. Back in the late 70's and early 80's he was the singer/songwriter for cult punk band Spasmodic Caress. The controversial "Hit the Dead" track was released by 4AD in 1980 and decades later re-released by US punk band The Spits. Subsequent tracks such as "Waiting" "SPG" and "Ambition" are now on YouTube. The inspiration for Cut Limbo comes from a combination of experiences gained whilst travelling and living in Europe and Asia, a love of the punk rock era and everything it stood for, and a passion for books and movies. Cut Limbo was originally written by Peter as a screenplay and inspired by classic movies such as Pulp Fiction, True Romance, Jackie Brown and Get Shorty. (A big thanks to Quentin Tarantino and Elmore Leonard) The story of what went on at Schipol airport, Amsterdam, just had to be told.
