Social Media solutions! Living in a Bloggers paradise!

If you are an enthusiastic blogger, good for you!  The internet and quality open source content management systems, such as WordPress, have revolutionized many aspects of communication, particularly publishing, advertising and marketing.  If you are a Blogger, the world really is your oyster; luckily, WordPress and other similar systems provide us with a Bloggers paradise .

But for some people, Blogging just doesn’t come easy!

We all know that some people have more imagination than others, but if you are a professional in marketing, advertising or publishing, you really should have just a little more than average.  Seth Godin recently said, that new ideas are very rare, most ideas are derived from something else and if we look at art or listen to music, it’s hard not to agree with Seth’s comments.  But can you believe that some people, some Bloggers, actually buy ideas! How sad is that?  When the Blogosphere is so filled with provocative thoughts, YouTube, StumbleUpon, Facebook, Twitter, Delicious, Digg, Quora… the list is endless, how can you possibly not find something to write about?

All you have to do is think a little, right? Or just spend some time looking around for stimulation!

What am I writing about?  I’m writing about not having anything to write about!  That wasn’t too difficult to think up, that didn’t exactly over exert my grey matter!  As I’ve said before, if copy writing and design and everything that makes a good Blog just doesn’t come easy, stick with Facebook or easier still, Twitter. Only 140 digits, that’s a piece of cake for anyone, right?

So, we are not all born to Blog, but this week has been an amazing and I’ve met a lot of amazing and inspiring Bloggers!  I can’t speak for myself, but these people that clearly were born to Blog!

Thank you one and all for the comments and encouragement on my recent Blog posts, ‘Social Media solutions: So you want to be a power house Blogger? Use WordPress and StumbleUpon!‘ and ‘Social Media satire 2: The world needs a laugh, Social Media to the rescue!

I should add, that anyone using lots of interesting graphics should consider using Twitpics! I don’t want to say how many views I received on Twitpic, it might appear boastful, but it’s a lot!  Handy for the Klout score! (Thanks to Phil O’Brien for the great idea!)

Here are some more great Bloggers!  People I feel privileged to know and read and they’re a very diverse crowd indeed!

Try reading what these guys have got to say, they should inspire you and if they don’t, as my good friend Roshan Khan, from SocialRank in New York, recently said, ‘Get out there, get out from the comfort zone of your desk and see different things, see life, mix with people and get new ideas!!’ (That might not be his exact words, but that’s what he implied!)

If that’s not enough to inspire you, get your mobile phone and go for a walk and take some photographs!  I did this recently, not because I couldn’t think of anything to write, but as an experiment.  I love architecture, it was a real pleasure, but whatever you are into, it’s out there, not just in the Blogosphere, but as Roshan said, out there in the real world!  Take a look!

Hey Peter, first those are some beautiful photos of architecture!

Secondly, thanks so much for including me in the mashup! I truly appreciate it!

Also, inspiration can come from anywhere, absolutely! It amazes where new ideas come from (out to dinner with friends, driving down street, dreaming (LOL) )!

Great post and hopefully this will inspire new bloggers (and veterans alike) on obtaining inspiration!

Hi Kesha, I’m glad you liked the post! Seemed to me that after getting such positive comments from people regarding my previous Blogging comments post, that the demands was there from fellow Bloggers! I don’t see that people can’t find inspiration somewhere in this day and age, type any word into Google or Google images and you’ll be busy for a while, right. Thanks Kesha, loved your Blog, as I said good to someone else writes in-depth posts. Thanks for visiting, keep up the good work, all the best, Peter

First Peter, I want to say it is amazing that you took those photos with your cell phone. They are incredible and beautiful!

Second, thank you so much for adding me to your great bloggers list – it is such a compliment and I applaud you for putting together this list as it is so important to share with each other to help us all learn and grow.

When it comes to blogging, I remember when I first started saying and thinking that I wasn’t a very good writer. Never had those clever words or phrases. But you know, once you get out there and JUST DO IT – it happens! You get addicted. Well at least I call it that.

Now I enjoy sharing my thoughts, ideas, and others ideas, tips and techniques. I don’t care if my verbiage is not perfect. I found it is more important just to get your voice out there – get others to interact. That is how you build those ever important connections. Then guess what? your business will start growing because people will want to find out more about you.

Whoa! I am getting a little wordy on this post. But you sharing your thoughts and the way you are expressing them here, is very inspiring. So keep going, Peter …. just keep going!

  3. Peter says:

Hi Lynn, what a great response and I thank you sincerely! It’s a slog, but the most rewarding and fun. I know that things are bound to become more fruitful as time goes on, that’s the same with any new business, that’s a given. This economy and the state of the world isn’t doing anyone any massive favors, what can we do? You are so right in saying that writing is a compulsion or an addiction and when you look back on earlier posts and see your own development it is a good feeling. Writing a great post (to me) is like cooking a meal everyone always remembers! With regard to your Blog, you deserved to be on the list, I like your Blog a lot, it helps people appreciate that it can be financially rewarding, chances are, it won’t just happen over night! Great to hear from you, take care and thanks for your kind words, very best regards, Peter

  4. Wow – Peter thanks for writing on the subject of ‘not having anything to write about’. It’s such a coincidence that I also blogged about this subject and methods of getting blog topic ideas.
You are right suggesting that anyone having a hard time blogging to go 140 characters. Lol. But sometimes even the most talented bloggers can face ‘writers’ block’.
Come to think of it, there are actually WordPress Themes for microblogging (I have a WordPress.Com site that I use for ‘blogging in 140 characters’). It’s funny but I’ve had a couple of “bloggers” contact me to guide them on how to get traffic to their blogs, but when I checked out their blogs I saw Google Adsense all over and in some cases just less than 10 lines of ‘story’. Perhaps we need to write a post on ‘blogging in 140 characters’ – I got me a new blogging topic/ idea now. Lol

Hi Stella, great to hear from you and yes, it seems that great minds do think alike! I do agree that it can be difficult some days, but we’ve got the world’s biggest library, Google, at our fingertips! That’s got to help! My own particular niche of construction and property and all the related industries covers a lot of ground, so all I need to do is look at the news. I got an email from a company called Miller Homes late last week, I’ve written a few articles for them in the past and they wanted to inform me of the results of a survey they carried out recently. Apparently, home buyer sentiment isn’t anywhere near as bad as the mainstream media are making out, plus the government just announced a scheme to help first time buyers!! Not only is that very good news all around, but it’s a great story and it’s written, proofed and ready to go out Monday or Tuesday lunch time. Knowing exactly the best time to post is crucial too, Dan Zarrella’s put a lot of time into studying it and he’s got a webinar coming up soon, might be worth a look. I know the best time for me to Tweet is Tuesday at 12.00pm! I really want to know the best time to post an article, it can make a big difference. I hope you’re using StumbleUpon now?? Great to hear from you, more Social Media satire, this week! All the best and keep up the good work, Peter

  5. Marty says:

    Hi Peter.
Bearing in mind I have a passion for puns, I’m going to give you some “constructive” feedback…. Mwaaahahahahaha. (or maybe that’s cos I’m drinking wine right now!)
You’ll know by now that my material is all my own and I don’t regurgitate material from others as such. What I read from you is very much your own as well. It’s interesting. How do we define ownership? All written content is inspired. It’s much the same with music. What you write is inspired by what you have read.
I’ve been a little dry on content recently but got round that by re vamping old content I’d written years ago. It’s the best way to get over the dry period. It’s much like re releasing a book with a new cover.

    • Peter says:

Hey Marty, I totally agree and that’s what I said in the post, sometimes we even think our ideas are ‘totally’ original but it’s inspiration from something stored away subconsciously. I like your idea of revamping ideas or better still, taking old ideas and building them into a bigger and better post. Sometimes just adding more photographs or graphic, or even embedding a video or 2 can make all the difference. I’m enjoying reading other peoples Blog, a lot of stuff I can’t relate too, but every now and then I find a little inspiration. A ‘conversation’ like this helps too, so thanks for staying in contact and I’ve just realised that there aren’t that many construction and property related Blogs! OK, that’s something else to dwell on! Cheers Marty, take it easy and stay in touch! All the best, Peter

  6. MartinDale says:

    Nice article Peter,
I had never heard of Twitpic before, so thank you for that!

    Martin

    • Peter says:

Hi Martin, thanks very much for dropping by and I’m glad you like Twitpic. It certainly creates a lot of traffic and if I can create interest by Tweet a Twitpic which leads people to check out my Blog in more detail, then it’s doing a great job! I’ve literally had hundreds of people check out the individual cartoons, it’s all good! Thanks again for dropping by, best regards, Peter.
